Setting Up Microsoft Outlook - Windows XP

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you were given an e-mail address ending with .net, rather than the .com ending used in the example below, use the .net ending in place of the .com. Use .net to replace .com for the INCOMING and OUTGOING server names, also.

 

  1. Double click on the OUTLOOK icon
  2. If the CONNECT TO window appears, click WORK OFFLINE
  3. Click on TOOLS in the main menu bar
  4. Click on E-MAIL ACCOUNTS in the drop down menu
  5. Click on ADD NEW E-MAIL ACCOUNT to dot this selection
  6. Click on NEXT
  7. Click on POP3 to dot this selection
  8. Click on NEXT
  9. Type in your name in the YOUR NAME field
  10. Type in your e-mail address in the E-MAIL ADDRESS field (EX. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
  11. Type in your user name in the USER NAME field (EX. janedoe)
  12. Type in your password in the PASSWORD field
  13. Enter pop3.kingcon.com in the field for the INCOMING MAIL SERVER (POP3)
  14. Enter smtp.kingcon.com in the field for the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER (SMTP)
  15. Click on MORE SETTINGS...
  16. Type in an account name in the MAIL ACCOUNT field
  17. Type in your e-mail address in the REPLY E-MAIL field
  18. Click on the OUTGOING SERVER tab at the top
  19. MY OUTGOING SERVER (SMTP) REQUIRES AUTHENTICATION MUST be checked.
  20. USE SAME SETTINGS AS MY INCOMING MAIL SERVER should be dotted
  21. Click on the CONNECTION tab at the top
  22. Click on CONNECT USING MY PHONE LINE to dot this selection
  23. Make sure that KINGDOM CONNECTION or KINGCON shows in the USE THE FOLLOWING DIAL-UP NETWORKING CONNECTION drop down menu
  24. Click on TEST ACCOUNT SETTINGS button to test your set up. Check your settings if this fails. This will generate a test e-mail.
  25. Click on NEXT
  26. Click on FINISH
  27. Click on TOOLS in the main menu bar
  28. Click on OPTIONS in the drop down menu
  29. Click on the MAIL SETUP tab at the top
  30. Click on the SEND/RECEIVE button
  31. In the section When Outlook is Online the SCHEDULE AN AUTOMATIC SEND/RECEIVE EVERY option should be checked and set to 5 minutes
  32. Click on CLOSE
  33. In the section Dial-up at the bottom, click on WARN BEFORE SWITCHING AN EXISTING DIAL-UP CONNECTION to dot this selection
  34. Click on the OTHER tab at the top
  35. Check EMPTY THE DELETED ITEMS FOLDER UPON EXITING to keep your system clean
  36. Set any other options in this window to your personal preferences
  37. Click on OK
  38. Close Outlook
