Dial-up Connection Set Up


What you need to get started:

  • An account with "The Kingdom Connection"
  • Your username _____________________
  • Your password _____________________
  • Your Local Call Access number ______________

MAC OS X

  1. Click on the apple in the upper left corner of your screen. Go to "System Preferences."

  2. Click on the "Network" icon.

  3. In the "Location" pull-down menu, choose "New location" and give it a name (e.g. home or work etc).

  4. In the "Show" pull-down menu, select "Internal Modem."

  5. Select the tab for "TCP/IP."

  6. In the "Configure" pull-down menu, choose "Using PPP."

  7. The next three lines will now say "provided by PPP server."

  8. In the "Domain Name Servers" box, fill in the correct DNS addresses as follows:
     
      207.136.229.4
      207.136.229.5

  10. Select the tab that says "PPP."

  11. For "Service Provider" enter "Kingdom Connection"

  12. Type the Kingdom Connection Dialup number local to your area in the box for "Telephone Number."

    Current Kingdom Connection access numbers are posted on our website under http://www.kingcon.com/numbers/.  

  13. Where it says "Alternate Number," you do not have to enter a number but you may choose another from the same list.

  14. For "Account Name," enter your username (email address)

  15. For "Password," enter your password

  16. If you check the box that says "Save Password" you will not need to enter it each time you connect.

  17. The "PPP Options" button allow you to customize the behavior of your connection.  The defaults for the "Advanced Options" should be "Send PPP echo packets" and "Use TCP header compression." Leave these checked.  The other two do not need to be checked.

  18. On the "Proxies" tab you do not need to fill out anything

  19. The "Modem" tab allows you to choose your modem.

  20. When finished click "Apply now" and you are ready to connect to the Internet.
